PEIMQG November 2019 Meeting

Howdy folks!! It's hard to believe how fast time has been rushing by! The holiday season is well upon us now.

November is the last month of the year when the members of the PEI Modern Quilt Guild gather for an official meeting. We aim to have as little business at  our December Potluck as possible, so everyone can settle in for a fun day of food and frivolity!

Heather welcomed 16 members and 2 guests (Minghuang and Wenli) to this month's meeting.

We also had guest speaker Pam Hales from "Step Ahead Designs" join us for a demonstration on "Paper Quilling". Here she is discussing the notions needed for this fun craft.

She shows us the process of building a flower...

Afterwards she invited us to try our hand at paper quilling, and we took a break to browse her pop-up shop, for some unique gift ideas!

Thank you Pam, for coming to visit and share your talent with us!

End of year means Executive elections are almost upon us. If you are a member and would like to help continue making the PEI Modern Quilt Guild awesome in 2020, please let Heather know by email peimqg@gmail.com what position you would like to hold by the December 14th potluck.

Next up was the "Colour of the Year" Postcard exchange with the Moncton Modern Guild. These are the gorgeous postcards that we received. They are all so fantastic!

We also were so pleased to award the Viewer's Choice winners of the Van Gogh Challenge. From left to right: 2nd place - Janice, 1st - Liz, and 3rd - Jean. The winners received ribbons and FQ bundles. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for their favourites!!

Lucinda's Block Lotto has been postponed until the December 14th potluck, as she was unable to attend. That means we get a little more time to make more blocks!!

We will be participating in a zippered pouch swap with the Victoria Modern Quilt Guild. Details will be provided to members in January via their email. Stay tuned in the New Year for photos, as members begin making their projects.

Show & Share

First up for Show & Share is a photo of the swan projects from the October - 3rd Story Workshop class featuring Andrea Tsang Jackson. We are missing a few members from this photo, so stay tuned in future for more of these lovely swan blocks.

Also from the Andrea Tsang Jackson workshops are the gemstones in each member's chosen colour. I love how they all sparkle!!

Jean showed some of her cotton cord bowls and after some persuasion, she has agreed to host a mini workshop during our Spring Retreat to members for $5. Supply list will be added to the Facebook page in due time.

Liz has been busy finishing up a few projects ... This Table Topper is sophisticated in Black and White.

 Here is the back..

These next 2 table runners were the results of a workshop she hosted, for a small group of ladies, in a neighbouring community.

Leigh Anne really enjoyed pattern testing this gorgeous "Snowflake " quilt by Modern Handcraft
