PEI Modern Quilt Guild November 2018 Meeting

2018 is winding down for the PEI Modern Quilt Guild. We had 13 members and 1 guest attend our last official meeting of the year. So glad you could join us Sherri!!

Heather opened the meeting with a few announcements...
Upcoming elections are pending for the Executive and officers of the PEI Modern Quilt Guild. Any guild members interested in holding a position are asked to send an email to peimqg@gmail.com stating the position desired.

Our QuiltCon charity quilt challenge 2019 is nearing completion. It is with Colleen, one of our talented Long Armers, waiting to be quilted and bound. We are so excited to see it finished.

We are also looking forward to our Spring 2019 Retreat taking place at "Our Lady of Hope" March 8 -10th. Heather shared the Cheryl Arkison pattern "Lilla", which will be featured at the retreat as a block challenge to members who want to play along.

The PEIMQG sold raffle tickets for this lovely quilt in 2018. We drew the winner during the meeting and..... Cindy G. was the lucky winner!!! A huge thank you to the members who helped complete this fun quilt, to Velda the super talented designer and to everyone who purchased tickets. We really appreciate it.

Cathy presented her Medley Medallion quilt to the group. The PEIMQG will be participating in a Skill building Quilt-Along in 2019. If you are interested in the Medley Medallion quilt, the patterns are being published in Make Modern  magazine, beginning with the current issue 25 and every other month for six issues. It should be so much fun, I can't wait to see what our members come up with!!

Next up was our Color of The Year (COTY) Mug Rug Swap. The PEI Modern Quilt guild had a lot of fun swapping mug rugs with the Renfrew County Modern Quilt Guild. We absolutely loved all the mug rugs we received. What a bunch of talented quilters!!

It's not to late to start working on your PEIMQG "Block Lotto" blocks (due in February). Make as many blocks as you want to have more chances to win them all!!! Here are some of Velda's:

PEI Modern Quilt Guild November 2018 Sew-In

It has been wet, and windy lately on Prince Edward Island, but at least we can say that there is no snow here yet.  We had a little group of ladies come together for a day of sewing and playing with fabrics and patterns.

Janice stopped by in the morning to say hi. She has been very busy taking lots of workshops around PEI and New Brunswick. We can't wait to see the results from the latest workshop with Elaine Quehl

Janet has been having fun playing with scraps. She has been so inspired by the recent visit by Cheryl Arkison and this quilt in particular.

Mixing together her older fabrics with fun modern prints and solids will result in a fresh scrappy quilt. I can't wait to see it start coming together!!

She also shared this recently finished baby quilt. Sew adorable!!

Linda spent the day working on binding...

Lucinda is working on some scrappy string blocks in an effort to work on unfinished projects in 2018. These are going to be gorgeous!!

Jean had 2 patterns to share from her recent trip to Alberta. Which one will she start first???

Cathy was working on some Christmas themed aprons, for her upcoming family baking day.

We also had a guest come and visit with us. Dianne is interested in the Modern Quilt guild. She brought along a photo of this quilt and asked for our thoughts on it. We had lots of fun imagining how we would make it our own!!!

We look forward to getting to know her in the coming months. (Hopefully she will decide to join us in 2019).

It's not too late to purchase a raffle ticket for this gorgeous quilt!!!! We will be drawing the winner at the November 22nd meeting. If you would like to support the PEI Modern Quilt Guild and have a chance to win, please contact us: peimqg@gmail.com
