PEI Modern Quilt Guild September 2020 Meeting

It's fall and we were gathered at Susan's home to connect and share what we had been working on since our last meeting.  Thanks Susan for hosting.

On September 1st, the Guild launched the Elizabeth Hartman Sew Along with a public Facebook page titled PEI Modern Quilt Guild Elizabeth Hartman Sew Along for members and non-members alike to join.  It will run at everyone's own pace for 8 months ending April 30, 2021.  People can choose their pattern and share their progress and finale (a finished quilt) in April for a chance at a prize. It is not too late to participate and here we are sharing what we are doing.

Here's Velda with her pattern chosen.

Leigh Anne with her block.

Liz with her blocks.

Susan with her pattern and fabrics chosen.

Lucinda with her blocks made.

Dawn with her pattern (and on the phone, multitasking).

Janice with her block.

Jean with her pattern chosen

Cathy with her medallion block.

Anna's medallion block.

Heather's first large whale block.

Next up, we had our regular Show & Share:

Roberta's quilt - Atomic Starburst, quilted by Velma Pinsonneault

Roberta made these cute aprons in various sizes.

Susan bought a quilt from the Amish on the island.  It is handquilted and simply gorgeous work of craftmanship.

Leigh Anne shared her quilt Pivot which she quilted with straight line quilting.

Velda shared her quilt Trinkets - quilted by Amber Arsenault.

Dianne has been working on her dresden plates.  She's got quite a collection to applique onto background fabric.

Cathy has designed this beauty which she has called Shine Bright, Dream Big.  I believe we will see a workshop in the future to showcase the technique of designing a large scale paper pieced block.

Jean has been making these bowl cozies for gifts.

Jean also put together these Kaffe Fassett fabrics to create this Jewel Frames quilt top, ready to be quilted.

Janice shared her Low Volume (Not) Tiles quilt which she finally finished quilting this month!  This UFO is a UFO no longer!

Heather shared her gift bags for Christmas as she was planning on getting gifts ready to give when she visits family this month.

Our next meeting will be held at a location to be determined...until then, quilt forward...
