PEIMQG April Meeting 2017

The April meeting took place this month on an unseasonably mild evening. We had 17 members and 2 guests in attendance. Welcome guests Nancy and Louise.

Heather opened the meeting by asking Dianne, our charity coordinator to speak about our current charity project for Foster children in PEI. Dianne introduced Nancy MacFarlane to speak about the PEI Federation of Foster Families and her personal experiences with fostering children.

The PEIMQG will endeavor to make or donate various sizes of quilts for the foster children of PEI. Dianne has asked the PEIMQG to make blocks using denim patches and 2.5" squares. These blocks will finish at 10.5". The deadline for completion of these blocks is the June meeting. ( If you would like to be involved in this charitable endeavor but aren't a member of the PEIMQG, please feel free to contact us at peimqg@gmail.com.)

Next up Queen Bee Cathy received her "Over and Under" blocks.

April's Queen Bee Helen also provided the kits for this adorable paper-pieced block.

May's Queen Bee is Roberta.

Round Robin: This month's Round Robin Instructions are to add a 3.5" UNFINISHED L-shaped border to the opposite side of the month's previous.

Susan collected some quilts for the Centreville Rug and Quilt show for the weekend of May12th. Any members still wishing to enter items into the show can make arrangements with Susan by the 8th of May.

Susan also shared some information about Margaret Jessop, a Fibre artist who will be coming to PEI in July for some workshops.

  2. I am just so in awe of Go West Young Man. As a woman who went west when I was young, I know just how much courage that took... I am very proud of both men and women of my generation who took those risks and are now able to come home to retire. Yay us, and yay you for making such a great quilt. PS. All the show and share stuff was wonderful.
