Happy New Year!!! Welcome back! We had a little break with the holidays, spent time with family and friends, and most likely indulged in all the delicious foods that come with the holiday season.
Now that it's a new year, the PEI Modern Quilt Guild is excited to kick off 2019 with some new faces in our Executive. Welcome to Velda, who is stepping in as Vice President, and Janet, who is taking over Secretary duties. We would like to thank Colleen for her 3 years as Vice President (2016-2018), she has done an amazing job, and we look forward to seeing her when her busy schedule allows it.
We had 9 members in attendance at our first Sew-In of 2019. We've been getting a fair bit of snowfall every few days , so it was nice to spend a Saturday among friends, sewing, and catching up after the holidays.
We spent the first part of the morning laying out and designing our 2019 Raffle quilt. After playing around with the blocks, a design idea was formed and we were ready to start sewing!! Velda, Dianne and Cathy were able to assemble and sew blocks into rows, and rows into quadrants, with Jean acting as "presser extraordinaire", we were able to get so much accomplished!!

In the afternoon, Linda worked on some of her "Raspberry Kisses" blocks. Lovin the Low-Volumes!!
Jean was feeling Blue.... Blue scraps that is!! This lovely pile of fabrics will be sewn into String blocks.
Lucinda and Velda were working on Blocks 1 & 2 of the Medley Medallion Skill Builder featured in Make Modern magazine.

Janet was also up to her elbows in Scraps!!! Look at all the fabric goodness!!! She's challenging herself to incorporate old with some new for an awesome crumb style quilt. Can't wait to see some of these blocks come together!!
Lastly, Heather brought in some gorgeous fabrics to cut, with the Cheryl Arkison "Lilla" pattern in mind. The Guild members will be able to have some fun making up some blocks at the upcoming PEIMQG Retreat. They look like so much fun to make!!
We had SEW much fun at the first Sew-In of 2019, I think The PEI Modern Quilt Guild has a lot to look forward to in 2019!!
