PEIMQG June 2017 Meeting

Heather J welcomed the group to the monthly meeting on this lovely summer evening. We had 16 members and 1 guest in attendance.

Heather J shared some of her impressions of her recent Quilt Canada trip. She was very impressed with the caliber of talent on display from Canada's quilters.

We will be hosting a Trunk show by Paul Leger in lieu of the October 26th meeting. Stay tuned for final details concerning the venue.

Susan will be hosting the August 12th Sew-In at High Tide Quilt Studio. The focus of this Sew-In is to work on assembling and completing Charity quilts for the PEI Foster Parents association. Bring your sewing machines, any unfinished quilt tops or blocks and Susan suggested having some pieced backings from your fabric stash. (Time to clean out your fabric cupboards!!!) It will be a potluck style lunch. Beverages will be provided.

Cathy had some bundles to share for the upcoming PEIMQG Mystery Quilt-Along.  Fabric requirements will be released July 1st. You have until September 1st to collect your fabric choices.

These lovely bundles were just a couple of what Mad About Patchwork has to offer.
Here's the " Tattooed Bundle" by Libs Elliot.

And the "Sun Prints" bundle by Allison Glass and a few others.

Next up for Program, Lucinda demonstrated a fun technique for turning an old T-shirt into a bag. Everyone had a lot of fun.

And Dawn shared a technique for cutting strips from fabric, so they don't distort after cutting a few strips. Very cool and definitely worth a try.

May's Queen Bee Roberta received the following " Mesmerize" blocks from her beemates.

June's Queen Bee, Susan has requested we make her blocks using the following tutorial posted by the MSQC: Kindred Pinwheels

Round Robin:

This is the Last Round before we all get our blocks back!!!

Liz has requested that we attach an L- shaped border to the remaining side, the size the previous person used. (For example if they used a 8" border, so will you.)

Show and Share:

Heather J shared her Canada flag quilt. Just in time for Canada Day!!!

Here are a couple close ups of her quilting..

and this strip quilt was so much fun. Lots of great prints to admire.
