The days are getting warmer and the snow is almost gone!! It definitely feels like Spring is here.
Heather welcomed 14 members to the March meeting, and we were all excited about the upcoming Eptek Art & Culture Centre exhibit featuring the PEI Modern Quilt Guild.
"Quilting Forward" an exhibition of work by members of the PEI Modern Quilt Guild is on view. A variety of pieces, many inspired by contemporary designs and using bright colours. There will be raffle tickets available for our "Supernova" quilt, pictured below.
Opening April 7th at 2pm. We will have members in attendance on opening day, for a meet & greet. Please come and join us for a celebration of Modern Quilts!!

Dianne, our charity coordinator has put together some kits for the "Healing Hearts for Christchurch" blocks. Information about this charitable endeavour can be found at the Angels in Gumboots Facebook page. Blocks are due at the April Sew-In or Meeting.
Don't forget that the QOV log cabin blocks are due at the April meeting!!
Next up, Linda gave a fun demonstration of the Fabric Boxes tutorial. I can see myself making these in all kinds of sizes. I definitely want to try a jumbo one!!
Heather was asked to present a slideshow from her trip to QuiltCon 2019!! She assembled a dozen or so of her favorite quilts to share. The members had lots of fun admiring the quilts that were presented. We enjoyed a lively discussion of our personal opinions on the colours, techniques and designs.
For the members participating in the "Make Modern Medley Medallion QAL", this month we drew prizes for Blocks 3 & 4.
Thank you to our March sponsor Spruce it up Quilting!! Jean and Velda were the lucky winners of $15 gift certificates. I see a road trip in their future!!
Cathy demonstrated her technique for Block #5 - Paper Pieced Diamonds.
and an alternative method using a "TRI Tool ruler".
Whichever method you use, this block is fun and easy!
Show & Share
Jean shared her stunning "Long Time Gone" quilt. Jean had fun hosting a Quilt Along with some of her friends throughout Canada and a few members of the PEIMQG.
Velda had a couple quilts to show. The "Improv Primer" by Amy Ellis is an excellent example of Improv blocks.
and the group absolutely loved her "My Sister, My Friend" quilt. Can you guess which face represents Velda??
Maritza made use of some of her purchases from her PEIMQG Spring Retreat road trip to "Sew Blessed Quilters". The "Emilia" quilt by Robin Pickens is Layer Cake friendly, and absolutely gorgeous!!!
Helen has also been busy since the Spring Retreat. We got to see a bit of this quilt come together into a block. The finished quilt top is so pretty!!! Love the black swan too!!
Dawn had one more Retreat themed item to share. This fun T-shirt commemorates the inaugural PEIMQG Spring Retreat.
Here is the back too. I love it!!
I think it's safe to say that Heather is a huge Tula Pink fan!! She couldn't resist getting some of the newly released "Pinkerville" collection and a fun pattern too!
Lastly, Roberta had a few things to share. "Sweet Dreams" is just perfect for a baby quilt.
The backing works perfectly too.
The Counting Sheep quilt is another adorable baby quilt using a panel to perfection!!
The backing is super snuggly!!
A fun pillowcase for her trip to Florida...
This quilt kit was a super find, on sale too!! Who could resist?
and these fabrics just happened to jump into her cart when she was visiting the Fabric Cupboard (Moncton), Spruce it Up (Port Elgin) and Kate's Open Quilt Studio (Shediac Bridge) during her trip to NB.
