Heather J. opened the meeting by greeting 13 members and 3 guests. It was nice to have you join us Judy, Evelyn, and Jeannine.
First on the evening's agenda, Dawn our treasurer presented us with the proposed Budget for 2018. Members can find the info filed under the financial tab of the Member's Only Blog.
Next up the members had the opportunity to decide which quilt design they would make for the 2018 PEIMQG Raffle quilt. Cathy and Velda both put forward design proposals, and after taking a vote, it was decided we will be making Velda's design - (working title) "Tilt - Whirl". Everyone is very excited to get started on this endeavour.
*** Members be sure to check the bottom of the post for special Sew days and their locations.***
Next up we discussed the upcoming Cheryl Arkison Trunkshow & workshops.
The Trunkshow will be held Thursday Oct. 18th. The Workshops will be held Oct 19th & 20th. We ask that members be signed up and paid by the March meeting, after which we will open to Non-members. Spaces are limited, so be sure to save your spot!!! If you would like information about Cheryl's Trunkshow & Workshops please contact us at peimqg@gmail.com.
Liz took the opportunity to ask the group if they would be interested in doing a swap with another Canadian MQG. Everyone seemed keen to have a Postcard or Mug Rug swap in the Spring of 2018. This gives us a chance to finish up a few of our ongoing challenges. Stay tuned for more details.
Last month we asked the online community to vote for their favorite Round Robin quilt. The winner was #4 - Heather J. Thanks everyone for voting!!
To start off our charitable endeavours for 2018, we will be making place-mats for "Meals on Wheels". Dianne has provided some orphan blocks for the members to play with. Feel free to use the orphan blocks or create your own. The requested size is: 12" x 18" or 14" x 20".. Please bring in your completed placemats to the March meeting.
Lastly, we had Show & Share:
Dianne had this adorable Rail Fence wall hanging.
and her Roses wall hanging was gorgeous!
Liz was busy over the holidays!!! She was able to make this fun pouch...
and these pretty clutch wallets, She even used cork fabric in one of them, she said it was very nice to work with.
Here is a close-up of some of the cork.
She was able to quilt these two baby quilts using a Robert Kaufman Layer cake, and the disappearing 9-patch pattern. Once they are bound they will be on their way.
She also finished her "Speed Date with Improv" quilt. It turned out great!!
Velda showed us this grocery bag, that friend & member Janice made for her.
Janice described her process for making this stunning "Bird Talk" wall hanging.
And this amazing postcard!!
Susan shared her completed Queen Bee quilt top.
Here is a close- up.
She also shared the following 2 blocks. Part of a Quilt Along she is participating in.
Heather J. Shared her "150 celebrate" quilt by Sew Sisters 2017. I love a red and white quilt, and the piecing was perfect!!!
Linda shared a mini quilt, made completely with scraps!!
