PEIMQG November 2017 Meeting

Well Folks, we are just about to wrap another year with the PEIMQG. We rescheduled our last business meeting of 2017. We met on Friday instead of our usual 4th Thursday this month. Boy oh Boy it was a great meeting!! 

Heather J. opened the meeting by welcoming 17 members and 1 guest. 

Nancy M. joined us as a representative for The PEI Foster Children Association. We had an incredible 44 charity quilts to donate!!! The quilts were of various sizes and materials. Some were hand quilted, and others had applique. These quilts will be allocated to the children in 4 group homes on the Island.

Next up we had a presentation by Cathy V, for the QuiltCon charity quilt challenge. The completed quilt was shown to the members in attendance. But we are only going to show the back, because we want to keep it a surprise!!. 

The PEIMQG will be donating the quilt to Sobeys as a Thank You for letting us use their Community room. Sobeys will be using the Quilt as a fundraiser for the PEI chapter of Children's Wish Foundation.

Heather J. presented a President's challenge to members. Members who sign-up will receive a random numbered paper bag, containing fabric. The challenge is to create a block with a "Nautical" theme using some or all of the fabric provided. (you can add to the fabrics, but they must be Kona Solids). PEIMQG Mystery Quilt-Along Show and Share:

Next up were the members taking part in the PEIMQG Mystery Quilt-Along. Here's Clue #2.

It's that time of year again!! Nominations for the PEIMQG executive and officers must be received by November 30th. Good Luck to the Nominees. We can't wait to see what's in store for 2018.

The PEIMQG will be holding a raffle in 2018 as a fundraiser. We are looking for "Modern" quilt design proposals. Have a great design idea? Be sure to bring a mock-up or drawing of your proposal to the January meeting. It will be put to a vote and a committee will be formed to proceed with this endeavour. The design can be an original or a published pattern (please be respectful of copyright laws).

Our December Potluck will take place on December 9th at Heather J's home. Don't forget to bring in your completed Round Robin projects for a chance to win an awesome prize.

We will be playing Right, Left, Centre, so be sure to bring in 10 charm squares (5" squares) of modern fabric. winner takes them all home!!!

Don't forget to bring something to work on throughout the day. Hope to see you there!

Dawn shared this surprise "Soccer" Quilt. Made with a panel and some pieced soccer balls.

Janice brought in her completed Portrait quilt of her grandson. "When the Driveway Hits your Nose" is amazing!!!  A class with Margaret Jessop held earlier this year.

Linda brought in her "3-D" blocks, from the workshop by Paul Léger last month.

It was a really great meeting! I am so proud of the PEIMQG and their efforts for the PEI foster children.
