PEI Modern Quilt Guild November 2020 Meeting

Well the Atlantic Canada Bubble deflated and out of respect and care for our members some members were joining by zoom as they had been off-island.  We had a small group gather for our November meeting.  We had a lovely time together to connect and share our quilty goodies since the last time we met.

After our business meeting, we moved to sharing our Elizabeth Hartman Sew Along progress.  If you have not seen all the fabulous creations happening as a result of this endeavour, check out the FaceBook Page!https://www.facebook.com/groups/797557650984897

Anna's (above and the photo she sent us as Zoom does not capture those colours!)

Liz's

Then, we moved to Show and Share.  Here's what we have been working on this month.

Anna was sharing her work on the Christmas quilt

And here is Liz showing Anna her's!

Here is Cathy showing us her original design called Shine Bright, Dream Big Mini which she custom quilted at Jean & Doug MacKie's Longarm Quilting!

Love the quilting detail.  Each section was carefully planned out to ensure they fit within the triangles.

Here are Cathy's Family Rules mug rugs!

Cathy shared her Pom Pom Galaxy which she quilted at Jean & Doug MacKie's Longarm Quilting

And the pieced back...

Roberta shared her Nail Polish quilt which was quilted by Velma Pinsonneault.  Don't you wish you had some of this polish for your next mani/pedi?

Here is Roberta's I Believe in Santa pillow.

As well as here I Believe wall hangings.

Jean is upping her game with Christmas gifts for family.  Found the half chef's apron at Beatons!  Which she custom embroidered for the people on her gift list...which included the items below...

I Love Gnomes potholders...

and a tea towel!  How do we get on Jean's nice list???

Janice shared her You're In My Spot! quilt and the story behind it.  Could you say no to this face?

Janice shared her 52 Blocks in 52 Weeks quilt which was a Canadian Quilters Association QAL and her quilt is titled - 50 + 2 Pick Up Sticks.  There are 50 blocks on the front and two on the back below!  Janice quilted it herself.

Linda brought in the Island Summer quilt.  It was the President's Block challenge 2019 where participants received either the 2019 Pantone or Kona colour of the year (COTY) and the theme was Summer.  Linda's block  was the Viewer's Choice winner and she put all the blocks received together to create this summery goodness!  Colleen Henderson, another member, quilted this quilt.
Awesome job Linda!

While Luncinda was not able to join us, she did use technology to the hilt sending a voice file to share the details to her King quilt which she quilted at Jean & Doug MacKie's Longarm Quilting!  The front is above and the pieced back is below.

Lucinda also talked about her Pinwheel Posy quilt which will be given to the latest baby in her family.  Here are photos of the front and back of the quilt.

Here is Heather's Summer Sampler 2019 (front and back) which was a piecing boot camp!  Lots of lessons learned here...  It was quilted by Blueberry Cove LongArm Quilt Studio.

This is Heather's #retrotetro quilt, a pattern by @GeekyBobbin.  It was a 10 week QAL and Heather designed the back (below), and had to modify the front by adding more columns, in order to fit the back!  It was quilted by Doug &Jean MacKie's Longarm Quilting.

Heather was pattern testing for @Sariditty and this is her Strung Out block from the Get Lit/Strung Out pattern.  She had fun getting back into free motion quilting.

Well, that leaves one more meeting for the 2020 year.  We'll see if we can hold it as planned in December.
